That is the way I see our sewing. We have the opportunity to change history with a needle and thread and a smile. But, it is a little more than that because we are like researchers as we search for the perfect project and along the way it helps to know a little more about our intended recipient , so we can open up our hearts and let the love flow in.This was where I started my search-found the fabric and found the pattern . All pieces are accounted for ! Forward Hoe! (they used to say that on one of the early westerns when I was little!)
That is my goal, at least - to bridge our lives. So, I am working on a pair of pants as a gift. I have a pattern that I have used before and as I lay it out and study the nice LONG piece of knit I realize that there is a flaw in my fabric. It looks like someone stepped in bleach and then stepped on the fabric . I know - makes no sense at all.I stop and lay out the first pair and they work fine. I even use the remnets to cut out the pockets. Then as I lay out the other pair - I discover that there is not enough fabric to make the second pair -thanks to the flaw. I might be able to cut out a pair of shorts ? This is the boo-boo on one side:
How do you like my weights to hold down the pattern??? I have the ceiling fan on and it really makes that pattern dance around-like it has a mind of its own. LOL
Well, now I have accomplished two sets of pattern pieces -one will be a pair of shorts and one will be a pair of slacks. Dumb boo-bb - I was hoping to weasel me a pair of slacks out of it too, but is not to be. DH did come in from helping a friend of our children who came up to get mechanical help. He said that he could use scraps of left-overs in the garage? That's not a bad idea. I was thinking about cutting them up as pillows for the critters -OR- cutting them up in strips and then crocheting them into a rug or sewing them onto a rug fabic form for a rug. I really love rugs - but all of that takes time and strength in your hands and arms. I will just keep them laying on the table and let fate dictate their destiny. :)
I used to make all of my clothes...I should one day get back to it. I can't wait to see your pants. My mom was a dressmaker and owned a fabric store with my dad, so you know she taught me all she knew.

That is a pretty big boo boo! Glad you still got some use out of the fabric. Love the colour BTW!
