Thursday

I believe that I have just been in "robot mode" today. Still trying to attempt to absorb this new channel our lives have taken. So, I just did what had to be done and then this afternoon DH took me to my counseling session. Thank goodness. My counselor is truly an angel- sometimes I wonder how a great one can listen while you pour your heart out ? They do this over and over -helping us to find our way through this maze that life takes us through. I am so blessed to have found her. They say that "when the student is ready - the teacher will come". Something I have clung to at times-during lessons that I did not understand.

One neat thing was that after counseling DH and I went to the park with two canine furbabies and we both walked about a quarter of a mile . I hate having to start all over again. That was one reason that I hated to stop walking in Oct.After making it through the Winter -we have to start all over again and work through the pain.

Well - I have hopes of  turning myself into the sewing that I love so much. You know sometimes it is kind of funny . I bet we have all seen the cute designs out there that say I love Sewing or sewing angel. I get tickled because when I mess up so very badly I seem to be hung between starting the trip and finishing the project. So, I feel like I am not good enough to wear the design. I keep working to learn -always hoping that it will like earning a badge of courage.

Love to one and all.

Tired, Tired in both mind and body

It was another lovely day here in Va. I bought a pack of spinach today that I need to get out there and plant. The garden center was crammed packed - I think everybody has Spring Fever (and maybe a little Summer fever too)

I have not sewn at all today because of the doctor appointment that DH had and it was rotten news. Three years ago they found prostate cancer and treated it vigorously and they said they had "got it"? He was so pleased . But, today the doctor said that you can never "cure " prostate cancer - you can only attempt to "control" it?

He told him about  options - one was a pellet in his arm vein that would be good for a year and slowly release the medicine. But, when he looked at DH's arms they are too badly scared from the burns he received back in 1972. It leaves the flesh very thick - so that would not work. There was a shot that he could take every 4 months - but they have to give that one in the stomach - so that was out the door. So that left the one where he takes shots every 3 months - so that was the one he chose.

When you get news like this -it feels like all the air was sucked out of your body. You don't want to believe it -you know-because the person still looks physically fine. But he has been fighting one battle after another -it seems like all his life, and what affects your mate - affects you too.

So ladies -tell your husbands, brothers, uncles  or fathers about prostate cancer. They say that most men in later life do have prostate cancer-but since it is considered a slow growing cancer that a lot of them die from something else and didn't even know it unless an autopsy finds it.

Warn them all that it kinda starts with extra trips to the bathroom at night - and - or - pain upon urination. Of course increased trips can mean an enlarged prostate -but at least they can work with that? It was mostly the pain with us because it just increased and we thought it was a kidney infection because it was also a weak stream or stop and start. We were really shocked to learn of prostate cancer and how deadly it can be. I don't think either of us had even heard of prostate cancer or the symptoms - up to that point , and a lesson that I wish we did not have to learn?

I send each of you love
hugs - Linda

Beautiful Monday

The weather was so beautiful here today ! I just can hardly believe that we look out and don't see SNOW! YIPEE!
But another day not allowed to sew! Pooy-pooh!

I worked outdoors most of the day. Came in and fixed a meal - only I was so tired that I burned my cabbage. Pooh - I think I am on a roll. -maybe it is better that I was not allowed with my sewing machine? I bed that could have been a disaster???
We had a little rain this afternoon .That was nice.
My little PeeWee is still hanging on with me. I would not have thought she would be here -after the last few days. She did not eat or drink anything for a day and a half -but last night she took some broth and this morning she was ready to eat a small meal which she ate and kept down - so I have fed her small meals during the day so I would not upset her tummy. So, she and I have another day to share. :)

Here it is midnight and I still have to go fall in bed -shoot hope I don't forget to take the medicine for my eyes as I pass the bath room and then tomorrow DH has a doctor appointment and you know how uncertain that can be?
Thank you so much for coming to visit! I hope you are having a wonderful day - full of new adventures!
See you tomorrow !
Hugs to all!

Easter Day!

How truly beautiful this day has been - we have been so blessed.

We went to W.Va. to see DH's sister and her husband. DH was so excited last night that it took him a while to go to sleep and then he wanted to get up at 5AM and I told him No, at least 6AM. So, I did pull off getting him to sleep in another hour -after we got underway - he got sleepy! I knew he would!  So, both of us struggled to just stay awake!

But we did manage to prove that we are all kin! Here we had those Easter baskets to surprise them - and dog gone - they had got us two big  chocolate Easter bunnies! LOL - It was so funny! We were each trying to surprise each other and we both got surprised! How funny is that.

The weather was beautiful and we took 3 of our furbabies with us and they managed to be on their "best behavior"! It was just a lovely day until the afternoon when we started home and got a phone call from our youngest son. He had been at our house working on a car and when he bent over his back went out. That screaming kind of pain. It took us 2 and a half hours to return home and by then they said he had a bulging disc . so he will have to miss 3 days of work to see what happens. The reason he was working on the car is he had parked it a couple of years back , but Now that they were married in the Fall - they are now pregnant and need some more space to carry the baby in????

I hope that all of my internet family has had a perfect Easter day -full of love. Happy Easter!

Another day has slipped away

They go so quickly ,like sand through your fingers. I really try to hang onto a few minutes here and there - just to enjoy the beauty of the day. Each day a different adventure and I learn something new .

Today , HUMM? Now , where did it go to? O yes - I started off working on the bills. I Hate working on bills. Just when I think I almost have them tamed -something else comes along and blows me away from my goal. Then I got tired and confused -just could not figure out what I had done between last month and this month? Up till now I have always been so proud of how I could manage our finances and I had even helped one of my dear friends tame her bills. I remember when we were first married in 68 -we had two jobs. Hubby worked at a place that manufactured camping trailers and I worked for a veterinarian .We were not rich - but we paid our bills and even got to go shopping occasionally. Now shopping means for groceries  and sometimes that is a hit or miss deal.

I do not mean to complain - I am just studying the facts to see what I am doing wrong. ????  I guess everybody has noticed that every month there is something that goes up in price -just when you think you do not have one penny more - there is something to break your heart. Complications, complications!

After I did the best I could manage with the bills we ran to town to mail the ones that have to be mailed . I really do enjoy the ones that you can do online-seems so much easier and faster and I do not have to get in the car ! I am still having problems with riding in the car -since that wreck!

I have had the strangest pain today? It was at the base of my skull and every time I tried to turn my head pain would shoot out from there up through my eye-socket ???? I decided if it is still hurting that bad by Monday I will try to see a doctor. Maybe it is just stress from working with the bills- I hope that is all it is. :)

My little Pee Wee is in the process of passing over and anyone that loves animals knows how difficult that is. After 20 years they become a part of us. I got her to drink a little water but she refused food. I carried her outdoors and held her on my lap and we listened to the frogs singing together. She seemed to enjoy our little trip as much as I did. I am really going to miss her so badly because she has Always been on my heels watching over me.She has always been one of my best friends -the one that I could always tell all my secrets too because you knew she would always keep your secrets.

I had to clean out the car for our trip tomorrow to go see DH's sister , so I picked Pee Wee up and carried her to where I was working on the car and she seemed to enjoy hanging out with all of us.After I finished with the car and put everything some place I picked Pee Wee up and carried her to the swing on the front porch and we listened at the frogs again. They seemed to be singing a song of Joy for our lovely day and all of our treasures.

Now it is dark and she is sleeping on that pillow that I made the other night. Now I know who it was made for.

I hope each of you have or had  a wonderful Easter . A time to take a moment to count our blessings and enjoy the gift of a day and good health and wonderful friends and a day to learn new lessons as we do the best we can do.I know there are challenges -but sometimes the day is just such a wondrous gift that it is hard to contain myself - the magic of a day well spent and knowing that we are loved and that gives us a chance to share the love to the next person .

I wish I could lock time up and only let it out when I wanted it.???

I could not do any sewing today . We had to go to the mill to get critter feed and flour for us. Then DH had to go by a machine shop to check on some parts for his truck and then he had to check on ATV parts. I think it is a conspiracy that everything wants to break down at once.

Then we stopped by the bank and I had made a boo-boo filling out the deposit slip , so the little girl fixed it for me. But that was because I had just come from the eye doctor and having my eyes dilated and I could hardly see anything. He said I have cataracts started and that breaks my heart. I asked him if he could offer a prognosis . He said there is no miracle, but there are helps -so he wrote down drops I am to put in twice a day and vitamins that are targeted at our eyes , and he said fish oil is known to help. I told him that my eyeballs are a treasure to me. He is one of the sweetest young eye doctors I have ever met. I told DH that I wished he was a dentist too!

Now my day has come and gone AGAIN! My heart is on sewing , but I still have bills to pay. I HATE to pay bills! I am just grateful that I can pay most of them. That is not counting my new prescription for new glasses. I told him I did not have the money to get new glasses now- and he said that was alright - that the prescription is good for a year.

Our weather here was Hot today. I Hate going from 40 to 80 so fast - like all of a sudden. ~smile~

Well, after I pay those bills - maybe my body can be where my heart wants to go. To the sewing room!
love to all!

Hard to get anything accomplished

When you just feel so rotten. I was so tired I could barely move . I tried so hard to work up some initiative , but my energy was just sagging. I even came in the sewing room -hoping to revive my spirit-but it just drug me down more because I could see the fabric calling to me - but what to do with it-was the question.

It did not help that DH was sick too and he had been that way since last night and spent a lot of time in the bathroom. I finally told him that I thought he had a touch of food poisoning because while I was at the counselor's office , he went and got him two hot dogs to eat and he said they were not good at all.. He is starting to feel a little better this afternoon - probably because it has cooled off a lot. It was down right HOT here today . I hate when it goes from 60 to 88 degrees.

I am still attempting to have a conversation with this fabric. It has been very naughty . I went to get it out of the dryer and it had all Wrapped itself around itself and it was just one big Knot!I did con DH into helping me get it unwound and refolded. He was really quiet good at it and the two pieces that had 6 yards in it -we stretched from our hall -all the way across the living room! Either that is a big piece of fabric OR our living room is quiet small! Doesn't matter , I am just so grateful to have it washed, dryed and folded so I can attempt to create something usable???

OK - one disaster after another one -our water hose to the critters got chewed into and I have a lot of soaking wet critters . Had to clean all their cages . I am really grateful that it is warm tonight for the first time. I will have to figure out who the criminal is that chewed the hose? So, I think I will pack myself up , fix DH coffee for in the morning and go to bed.

I did have time to check with a couple of patterns for my #2 daughter-in-law. Since I made my son a bright orange shirt with something fishing on it - I would like to use the same orange to fix something for her too? Turned out the pattern that I thought I had used for her Christmas shirt -was not the pattern that I thought it was. That first one the neck was too wide for her. I know how that feels because I Hate for that to happen to me. The pattern that I think I will use is a regular tee shirt , but it is labeled under nurse uniforms.

Tomorrow I have an eye doctor appointment  . I dread it and need it at the same time .I love my little eyeballs and do not like it when they get sick!
Love to everyone and best wishes for a wonderful new day.
